IT Infrastructure: The Key to Security and Growth

November 8, 2019

Digitization increases the risks of cyber attacks. Read how to optimize your IT infrastructure and protect your company against threats.

Digitization is here to stay. It spreads quickly and is seen more and more in Danish companies. The Danish IT infrastructure is becoming more complex, and at the same time cyberattacks have unfortunately also become a normality.

The Danish IT infrastructure is getting bigger and thus more complicated. IT infrastructure is not only kept within Denmark's borders, but also moves across countries and cultures. With many more channels, there are also many more ways into your company's systems for a hacker. It can be difficult to maintain an overview with all the different channels that the complicated IT infrastructure entails. Therefore, it is extra important that your company gets an IT infrastructure together that can make the process as difficult as possible for a hacker.

It is therefore no longer a question of "if" you become the victim of a cyberattack, but to a greater extent about "when" you are attacked. The larger and more complex your company's IT infrastructure, the more difficult it can be to detect a potential attack in time. The longer it takes for an attack to be discovered, the more it can spread through your company's IT systems.

Tips for strengthening your IT infrastructure

So you might as well prepare yourself to be attacked, and in this context we give you three good tips on how you can strengthen your IT infrastructure - which can help you quickly detect any cyberattacks:

  • Make sure your employees know exactly who is doing what

This means that it is essential that everyone in your company knows what their role is. If people know what their individual roles are, you streamline the communication channels, and this will save a lot of time, so that the hacker cannot do nearly as much damage to your system.

  • Find the right detection and response systems

A detection and response system is really pretty much what the words indicate. These systems help you quickly detect and react to future hacker attacks, so that they do not cause much damage to your systems. It is crucial that these attacks are detected and responded to as quickly as possible, as they can end up costing your business dearly. A detection and response system is undoubtedly worth the money, so this is not an area where you should skimp when it comes to IT infrastructure.

  • Make sure you have an external IT expert on hand

In the event of an accident, it is important to have an external IT expert at hand who knows your system. In situations like these, the IT support will be able to take over and significantly reduce the damage to your company, if you do not have the expertise to solve the problem yourself.

An overlooked security risk

For hackers, IoT devices are perfect entry points: they are easy to compromise, they are rarely monitored, and they can provide access to the rest of the systems.

The insider threat
